Day 64 ~ DIY Chalkboard

DIY Saturday
Chalkboard

Supplies :

Unstained/painted cabinet door
Spray Paint- Color of your choice
Chalkboard paint
Brush
Plastic tarp
Chalk

First thing you want to do is make sure you have an empty space, like a garage, to lay your tarp down. You want to make sure you spread it out far enough so you don't get spray paint on anything else. Make sure the tarp is smooth, otherwise the sides will stick to the paint.

Then spray away :) Make sure to get the sides of the door as well as the inside groove. Spraying the inside, where the chalk paint will go, is just fine since it will be covered with the black chalk paint anyway!!

Let this dry for awhile. Then shake up your chalk paint and grab your brush, you're ready to chalk up the middle area! This will take awhile to dry, and most likely you will need at least 2 coats to get a good coverage. So if that is the case, just repeat once the first coat is dry.

Start of the chalk paint.

Coat 1

Coat 2. FOR EVER to dry :)

Once you are done spray painting and using the chalk paint and it is dry, take your white chalk and slate the surface. To do this, take your chalk and rub over the entire surface of the chalkboard paint. Then wipe off with a paper towel.

Your chalkboard is now ready to use :)

Hope this DIY was super easy and fun for you! Remember to share your pictures with us if you do any of the DIY's!! Have a great weekend!
