Day 87 ~ DIY Placemat

DIY Sunday
Chalkboard Placemat

These were probably the easiest DIY I've done so far. I pretty much had everything on hand, except for the placemats. Which I went to Walmart and grabbed for a $1 each! Plus who doesn't love an easy chalkboard DIY?! I'm all about the chalkboard paint. So many ideas you can find to make things with it.

Materials Needed ~
Chalkboard Paint, Spray is the easiest for this
Placemat
Chalk

Set your placemats out on a protected surface.

The spray away! Make sure to read the spray can on the directions. I waited 20 minutes for this coat to dry, then 24 hours before I could start using chalk on it.

Done with the spray chalk and ready to go!

Make sure to rub white chalk over the entire surface and wipe clean, before you use it.

Voila! Your placemat is ready to use. Keeps the kinds entertained and a great way to place seating!!
Don't forget to set the chalk out! :)

Day 86 ~ Fancified Finds

Fancified Finds

A unique shopping experience located in our renovated Granary featuring rescued,re- purposed, redesigned, reinvented Furniture & accent Finds. You'll find a delightful and eclectic mix.

This is one of our Vendors, her name is Gail, she is fabulous. Simply put, she loves what she does and we love what she does more. She is amazing at what she does with repurpose & up-cycling furniture. If she isn't busy in her garage painting away, she is away finding unique, one of a kind pieces. We like to think that each piece tells a story, from where it had been and who it should be with. You will instantly fall in love with all of her pieces because you can see her passion in her work. The attention to detail on the colors and knobs, to what other piece needs to be with it to make it. She brings in so many accessories as well, wall mirrors, owl decor of course, plaques with sayings, just to name a few. Not only does Gail redo an abundance of furniture, but our favorite thing she makes is door mirrors! You're probably thinking what the heck?! She takes an old door, adds a mirror, adds a few extra special pieces and bam! She has a unique piece you will need in your home! I should know, I own 2 and Laura 1 :) We also have 2 in our store we had to have!  She has a space in our store that she comes and brings in new pieces about twice month. She makes sure it is exactly how she wants it to be presented, as if it were in your home. If you have facebook, look her page up. Posting pictures daily of her work is just the start, she also has online sales and sales at her home. We know you will fall in love with her pieces just as much as we do. I'll let the pictures tell you what Gail is all about and why we love having her pieces in our store.

Day 82 ~ Handmade Clothes Rack

Handmade Clothes Rack

It's evident, we love the world of handmade at Italy Ava, but it's not always realistic when time is of essence.  When we first opened in our new location we were exhausted from the renovations of the building, and it was just easier to order in your traditional clothing rack vs. create and build. Even though the store racks are called boutique style to my artistic eye they're a bit blah..   Down the road we converted a ladder into a rack and just recently birch branches. .  OK, I shouldn't say we because Leiah and I, think of it and my husband builds, hangs, or whatever it is we need done..
Adam truly has been a blessing to Italy Ava~

Here is fun inspiration not only from Italy Ava but other creative minds, that love unique handmade creations..

This is our new birch creation

Summer ladder project.  I love the look of this and if I ever get my walk-in closet, it will be a must-have

Day 81 ~ Puppy Chow

Pinterest Treat
~ Puppy Chow ~

Ingredients :

9 cups crispy rice cereal squares
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

Grab your ingredients and measure each one out. I set mine in bowls so my little helper could participate :)

On low heat, add your chocolate chips to a sauce pan & melt away.

Add the peanut butter & mix until it's smooth.

Remove from the heat & add the mixture to the cereal. Stir until it is evenly coated. Oh and I made sure to sneak a few at this step!
Add the powered sugar to a plastic bag, top with the chocolate covered cereal. Toss around until you can see it coated with the powered sugar!

Ta Da! Yum!

My little helper couldn't help her self. She had to get right in :)
This is such an easy treat to make and really fast!
